Every woman’s postpartum hair journey is different. After giving birth, estrogen and progesterone decline abruptly, while cortisol starts to increase drastically, igniting a shift in the hair growth cycle. During pregnancy, higher levels of hormones like estrogen help keep hair in a prolonged growth phase that would have normally graduated to the natural shedding phase of the cycle otherwise. So women get to enjoy less hair shedding during pregnancy.
